Federal Grants
The federal government offers a wide variety of grants that can help you pay for college. These grants are need-based, meaning they are awarded based on your financial need.
The most popular federal grant is the Pell Grant, which is awarded to students who demonstrate the greatest financial need. The amount of the Pell Grant varies based on your financial need, but can be as much as $5,920 per year.
Other federal grants include the Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG), which is awarded to students with the lowest Expected Family Contributions (EFCs), and the Iraq and Afghanistan Service Grant, which is awarded to students whose parents or guardians died as a result of their service in Iraq or Afghanistan.
To apply for federal grants, you will need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.gov.

State Grants
for Small Businesses
The Small Business Administration (SBA) is now offering state grants to small businesses in an effort to help them recover from the economic effects of COVID-19.
The SBA will be awarding $1 billion in grants to small businesses in all 50 states, Washington D.C., and Puerto Rico. The grants will be awarded on a rolling basis, and small businesses can apply for them through their state’s economic development agency.
The SBA is also offering $10,000 advances to small businesses that apply for the grant. The advances will be available within three days of applying for the grant, and will not have to be repaid even if the small business does not receive the grant.
This is a great opportunity for small businesses to get some much-needed financial assistance. If you’re a small business owner, be sure to check with your state’s economic development agency to see if you’re eligible for the grant.
